New York City

New York. If you’ve been there, you know exactly what chaos is. There is always something happening, somewhere, at any time of the day. Chinese food at 4am? You got it. Subway ride to Brooklyn at midnight? Probably not healthy, but yes. Need to buy a wedding ring at 6am? 24-hour pawn shops.

If you’re looking to break into the music industry, you can find any number of opportunities here - but you have to fight to get them, and then you have to fight to keep them. And if you’re one of the fortunate ones, you’ll get a following, and that following will grow into fanhood, and that can grow into more, especially if you get a recording agent to hear you and offer you a contract to record an album.

It’s not that simple though. As a musician, if you’re not marketing yourself or playing out 7 days a week, working 16 hours in a day to get your name heard, then New York City will crush you and devour you. NYC is not for the faint of heart, not for the weak-willed. If you’re willing to suffer for your art, you can make it in New York.
